Franco
Mondini-Ruiz was born in San Antonio. He received his BA
from St. Mary's University (1982) and his JD in 1985. His work
has been selected for solo-exhibitions at Jessica Murray Projects,
The Bronx Museum of Arts, New Museum of Contemporary Art, El
Museo del Barrio, Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard (New
York); Sala Diaz (San Antonio); and The Plaza Santa Catarina
(Mexico City). He was included in Ultrabaroque: Aspects of
Post-Latin American Art (Museum of Contemporary Art, San
Diego, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Modern Art Museum
of Forth Worth, Art Gallery of Ontario, Miami Art Museum, and
Walker Art Center). He was also included in the Whitney Biennial
2000, ARS01-KIASMA at the Museum of Contemporary Art,
Helsinki. Other venues include Contemporary Art Museum, DiverseWorks
(Houston) and Salon 300 (Brooklyn). He has received grants from
Creative Capital Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, the
Pollock-Krasner Foundation and ArtPace. His work has been reviewed
by: The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, ArtForum,
Art in America, The New Yorker, Sculpture, Flash Art, Art News,
Paper, and Time Out. He was included in art: 21
Art of the Twenty First Century (Abrams). Mondini-Ruiz lives
and works in New York.
