David Ellis was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and received
his BFA from Cooper Union, New York (1993). His first solo-exhibition
in New York, Like the Motion of Water, was presented by Jessica
Murray Projects (2002). He has also been selected for solo-exhibitions
at Tidal, Osaka and Gas Experiment, Tokyo. His work has been included
in exhibitions at Gale Gates, Smack Mellon, Downtown Arts Festival
(New York); and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco).
His public art projects can be seen on industrial buildings in Brooklyn,
tobacco barns in Cameron, North Carolina, and on the exteriors of
Mo Jo Trucking vehicles. He is also the founder of an artists' collaborative
team called The Barnstormers. Ellis' work has been featured in
ID, Paper, ArtForum, and Flash Art. He lives and works
in Brooklyn, NY.
