Alejandro Diaz was born in San Antonio, Texas. He received his BFA
from the University of Texas at Austin (1993) and his MA from the
Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard (1999). Both a curator and a
visual artist, he founded the San Antonio alternative art space
Sala Diaz. His work has been selected for solo-exhibitions at Jessica
Murray Projects, Brooklyn; The Fuller Art Museum, Brockton, MA;
ArtPace, San Antonio; and The Bemis Center for the Arts, Omaha.
He has been included in exhibitions at the following institutions:
El Museo del Barrio (New York); Contemporary Art Museum, DiverseWorks,
Houston Museum of Fine Arts (Houston); and Centro Cultural de la
Secretaria (Mexico City). His artwork and curatorial projects have
been reviewed in The New York Times, Flash Art, Art in America,
Vogue, and Time Out. Diaz lives and works in Brooklyn,
NY.
